Innovative collaborations between Eduserv and the NMSI

Eduserv has been working in partnership with the National Museum of Science and Industry (NMSI) since 2006. Recently we have embarked on two projects that showcase the flexibility of the Sitecore content management system and the application of some innovative new technologies.

‘In Sickness and Health’ is a new project being undertaken by the NMSI with the Wellcome Trust, the UK’s largest charity, to digitise objects from the Wellcome Collections on the history of medicine.

Eduserv will be providing a new site for the project, involving a new Sitecore build and utilising a custom-built application which enables collections data to be easily manipulated and displayed online.

Eduserv has also recently delivered a new site called Talk Science, a project from the NMSI funded by BP, which aims to help science teachers share best practice, and collaborate on teaching tools and lesson planning.

Following concept-planning and IA planning by Rattle Research Eduserv built the site using Community Server 2008, which provides community-friendly features such as forums, blogs, wikis, media galleries and Sharepoint integration for document collaboration.
