Up to 650 Higher and Further Education Institutions can purchase Adobe products at the highest level of discount available regardless of spend
Bath, 16 February 2009 – Eduserv, the not-for-profit IT services group, has created a Chest Agreement with Adobe that will enable UK universities, colleges and research councils to buy licences for creative software at the best possible price, irrespective of how many units they require.
Adobe produces products that are widely used in the graphic and web design industry, such as Photoshop, Flash, InDesign and Dreamweaver. Under the existing scheme - the Adobe Cumulative Licensing Programme (CLP) - academic institutions could buy perpetual licences and maintenance at three tiers of discount based on points awarded for their total spend.
Under the new Eduserv Adobe Master CLP Agreement all institutions can enjoy the largest level of discount regardless of their size or spending power – and with no minimum initial order. Universities and colleges can enjoy greater flexibility and choice over their purchasing policy, knowing that they do not have to count product points or satisfy minimum spend levels.
Tina Pask, from IT Procurement and Asset Management at University of London Computer Centre, says, “This new Agreement will move us up the discount band brackets, enabling us to save roughly 25% on the cost of licences – that’s a real cash saving."
The software can be purchased through a selection of Adobe Educational Licensing Centres who will be offering the Eduserv Adobe Master CLP Agreement - details can be found on the Adobe Master CLP Agreement page.
Eduserv worked in partnership with the Universities and Colleges Software Information Association (UCISA) PG Software Sub-Group to agree this significant agreement with Adobe. As well as negotiating the terms of the agreement, Eduserv will be managing the licence administration for institutions and providing an ongoing discourse between the academic community and Adobe, including the hosting of a new Adobe Focus Group, whose first meeting takes place in April.
Ian Cook, Chairman of UCISA PG Software Sub-Group, comments, "I'm very pleased that the combined efforts of UCISA Software Procurement Group and Eduserv have succeeded in obtaining this agreement. In addition to savings, universities and colleges can benefit from reducing the complexity and administrative time spent in managing orders to maximise the effectiveness of their expenditure on key Adobe products."
Peter Walker, Director at Eduserv, comments, “This agreement highlights the value that can be created by clear representation of our sector's needs. This is a significant agreement that has been made possible by Adobe's commitment to universities and colleges and the sustained and valuable support from UCISA's Procurement Group Software Sub Group. This agreement will increase the ability of institutions to access valuable software and provides a platform for future beneficial developments."
David Heath, EMEA Director of Education at Adobe Systems Europe Ltd, comments, “Adobe’s solutions can help education institutions deliver customised, collaborative, and creative learning experiences to students wherever they’re located. Through our partnership with Eduserv we are enabling these institutions to harness Adobe technology to prepare the next generation to excel in the global economy.”
