DVLA chooses full service from Eduserv's web solutions

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has signed a four year contract for Eduserv to provide them with managed hosting, web development and disaster recovery solutions.

Eduserv specialises in providing IT solutions to universities, colleges and the public sector and has worked with the DVLA over the past six years to provide managed hosting services for their corporate website (www.dvla.gov.uk). Eduserv has also implemented a new Sitecore Content Management System (CMS) and helped build the DVLA an intranet that will go live in Autumn 2009.

The DVLA went out to tender on Buying Solutions, of which Eduserv is an accredited supplier. Eduserv won the tender by supplying the DVLA with a secure hosting environment, strong Service Level Agreements, including 99.9% application uptime, 24/7 support and disaster recovery.

In late 2009 Eduserv will migrate the DVLA website onto a Shared Public Sector hosting platform. The benefits of the platform include high levels of resilience and stability, including disaster recovery.

In December 2006 the DVLA unveiled a new corporate website, delivered by Eduserv using the Sitecore Content Management System. The DVLA website is visited by 420,000 people every week and provides essential information for drivers and vehicle owners in the UK.
