Eduserv’s Microsoft Campus Agreement delivers £1 million in savings to UK Universities and College

235 higher and further education institutions benefit from shared savings of £1 million on Microsoft products through Eduserv’s Campus Agreement
Bath, 6 October 2008 Eduserv, the not-for-profit IT services group, today announces delivering savings of £1 million to UK universities and colleges through its Microsoft Consortium Campus Agreement.

Preferential pricing on popular Microsoft products was previously only available to around 20 institutions with more than 3,000 staff via the Microsoft Campus scheme.

The Eduserv Microsoft Campus Agreement works by harnessing the buying power of the academic community, enabling all institutions regardless of their staff FTE count to take advantage of lower prices on essential software. Since launching the agreement in November 2007, 235 institutions have joined up, saving on average £4,255 each on a wide range of products such as MS Office, SQL Server and Windows upgrades.

Microsoft products are sold to universities and colleges through certified resellers. Eight resellers (Bytes, Civica, Insight, Online Computers, Phoenix Software, Pugh, SCC and Viglen) were chosen through a tender by Eduserv to take part in the scheme.

The price an institution pays for Microsoft software depends on the reseller they choose, as each reseller’s package includes different additional services. Institutions who would like to find out more about the benefits of the Eduserv Microsoft Campus Agreement can find full information at www.eduserv.org.uk/chest/agreements/software/existing/mscampus.

Eduserv’s Licence Negotiation Service works with its partners in learning and research to deliver preferential terms and conditions for a wide range of software and data product licences. Over 97% of UK institutions benefit from at least one of our Chest agreements, saving the UK academic community a combined £20 million annually on the cost of software and data products.
