Eduserv’s Chest Agreements have saved the academic community in the UK and Ireland a combined £28 million in the year to September 2009. That's according to a methodology that has been approved by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
The method used to calculate the savings compares the prices available under Eduserv's Chest Agreements with the prices otherwise payable outside the agreements. Eduserv obtains these prices from its suppliers and other sources. HEFCE has verified some of these by contacting the sales offices of some suppliers directly. Included in the savings is an estimate of the process time saved by institutions by not having to undertake negotiations.
Chest Agreements are the result of negotiations between Eduserv, the higher and further education community and suppliers of software and data products. For more information about how we work, please click here.
