Potential Erdas Imagine and ER Mapper renewal

Eduserv has recently met with Infoterra to continue discussions on the renewal of both the Erdas Imagine and ER Mapper Agreements for image processing software; both due 31 July 2009.

From 1 August 2009, Infoterra will become the sole distributor for Erdas Imagine, image processing software, in the UK and Ireland. Infoterra already distributes ER Mapper. The suppliers of these two products, Erdas and Leica, eventually plan to merge the functionality of the products. On renewal, the two agreements will be combined into one and institutions will be able to licence both products and pay one fee. This will be helpful when the products are eventually merged.

An initial pricing proposal and other details will be sent out to current licensed sites over the next couple of weeks. Feedback will be welcome before negotiations proceed further.
