Law Focus Group

Eduserv is forming a Law Focus Group comprised of a number of representatives from Law Schools or law librarians as well as Eduserv staff. The main purpose of the group will be to examine issues relating to licensing a variety of law related online resources and to support Eduserv in negotiating affordable consortia agreements for UK and Ireland academic institutions with publishers.

The activities of the group will include:

  • Helping Eduserv to select resources for potential Chest Agreements
  • Flagging any new providers
  • Discussing key issues relating to licensing terms and conditions.
  • Evaluate proposals for agreements from publishers.

Whilst the group will look specifically at law resources, it will take a pragmatic approach and discuss other resources where there may be some overlap with other subjects. The final agenda is being put together and we welcome suggestions for inclusion. It will include the following topics:

  • A proposal for a potential agreement for iSinolaw, a comprehensive database of full text Chinese legal information will be discussed. If you would like to evaluate iSinolaw then a free trial is available – please send us an email including your IP address.
  • We are also looking at providing eBooks from Hart Publishing and will be looking at your requirements for an agreement.

We anticipate starting at around 10:30 and finishing by 15:00. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

If you or one of your colleagues would like to contribute and help shape Eduserv Chest Agreements for valuable law resources then please contact Jenny Carroll, who will send you more details nearer the time.
